The Art of Cake

Click here for  full Origin Salon Culinaire program

For immediate release:  Many people bake cakes and many succeed, and then there are those who are passionate about cakes! For them cakes are like an artist’s canvas, it is their creative outlet where they transform a cake into a masterpiece. Each year the Origin Culinary Arts & Hospitality Show has beautifully decorated occasional cakes on display. The cakes are part of the competition; they are judged and awarded points with the winner announced on the day of the competition. This year the Vanuatu Chefs and Food Handlers Association are thrilled that Parts Plus have sponsored The Art of Cake class and we encourage the public to come and view the cakes on display at Chantillys conference room from 10.00am on Thursday 24th October.
The winning cake last year was baked and decorated by Elisabeth Worwor, who displayed her creative flair and passion for baking by adding extra touches to her beautiful wedding dress cake display, the edible shoes, diamond ring and jewellery box made from icing added to her already stunning wedding dress. Elisabeth says she takes inspiration from her mother when dreaming about her cake designs. At the moment cake decorating is a hobby for Elisabeth that gives her peace, a lot of satisfaction and is therapeutic, but one day she hopes that it can be her full time focus. The cakes on display are an inspiration for chefs who like to bake, but are not sure about the next step in terms of decorating a cake to competition standard. So we encourage everyone to come to Chantillys Conference Room to view the entries for the 2014 Parts Plus Art of Cake.
