"Vanuatu Made" appearing soon in VTO website

Local entrepreneurs of "All things Vanuatu" from arts and handicrafts, island attires, painting, contemporary wears, health and beauty products, herbs, spices, tanna coffee to many more goods produced in Vanuatu for tourists, will be pleased to know that there will be a new section in the website to promote these products under shopping. VTO and IFC Sign MOU, Strengthening Partnership to Promote Tourism in Vanuatu

Media release: The Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) and International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) today, strengthening their partnership in promoting tourism sector development in Vanuatu. The MOU is the first step in formalizing collaboration between the two entities, outlining areas of potential cooperation and mutual interest.

Friday 04th April 2014 media release:  Despite the warm welcome by the members of the public and the local business houses, Miss Vanuatu Committee feels it is too soon to organize the Miss Vanuatu competition again this year. This will enable all of our partners to recover from the current slight slowdown of our economy. For this reason the Miss Vanuatu Committee recently took the decision to put a hold on the national beauty contest.

That something is the Reggae Bar on the Mele Road, which opens for business today (Friday). 

VTO joins Industries and Trade stakeholders meeting this week

On Friday 11 April, the VTO was invited to attend an important meeting at the Department of Trade, Industries and Commerce. The initiative was taken by the marketing division of the Department in developing marketing strategies as a guiding road map for 2014 - 2016, in promoting value-addition of Vanuatu produced products, linking raw material producers with manufacturing industries, and to facilitate market access for high niche products being produced and manufactured as Vanuatu made products.

For the first time, Mme Jacqueline FUNEL went her own way to sell Vanuatu Island dresses as well as arts and handicrafts of Vanuatu at the Moindou's market, on Sunday 6th april 2014. That morning, the destination brochure "Destination Vanuatu" was also given out to public who were enquiring about Vanuatu. The VTO acknowledges Mme Funel for her ongoing support in promoting Vanuatu in Noumea.

Roubaud promotes Vanuatu in Salon Mondial du Tourisme and Nature expo

Axel Roubaud, a french Terres de Partage wholesaler, recently promoted Vanuatu in 2 major tradeshows that took place in France, in the city of Paris. The first event was on 20-23 March which was Le Salon Mondial du Tourisme www.salonmondialdutourisme.com , and Destinations Nature consumer show www.randonnee-nature.com followed after that from 28th - 30th March. During the tradeshows, the France 'O’ TV channel interviewed Mr Roubaud about holiday packages he's put together for New-Caledonia and Vanuatu and it was screened in the evening news. As a result, the french ‘TF1’ TV channel is now looking to sending a TV crew for 2 documentaries for Grand Reportage in July. The VTO sincerely acknowledges Mr Axel Roubaud for his  support in promoting Vanuatu.

This week, VTO's officers incharge of handling trade & media famils have been super busy organizing and escorting few groups currently visiting the country. One of them is the world number 1 Cook Book chef and author of award winning "Me'aKai" cook book, teamed up Zoomslide production crew of New Zealand who have been filming Vanuatu segment2 that highlights the island delicacy tuluk as well as tossing in Tanna soup from their shoot at volcano island 3 days ago. Chef Robert and his team will depart tomorrow Saturday 5th April and VTO acknowledges all that have supported the shoot.

A week ago, Friday 28 March, the Vanuatu Tourism Office and Air Vanuatu Management and Representatives assembled at the Warwick Le Lagon Ballroom to do an industry presentation to a good turn out of Tourism stake holders and Government representatives, 53 people.

Vanuatu Tourism Office is undergoing a digital audit with the GTI Tourism Marketing Director Andrew Cavallaro. Mr Cavallaro will be arriving to meet with Head office and the industry in Port Vila from Monday 7 April to Wednesday 9 April. Andrew Cavallaro has recently been appointed as GTI Tourism Marketing Director and has exceptional digital experience and is well placed to be able to assist VTO with a digital solution. VTO acknowledges Mangoes Resort & Melanesian Tours for Mr Cavallaro's accommodation & transfers.
