Vanuatu Tourism Office celebrates ICT Day in style

Alcina Charlie, Senior Communications and Emarketing Officer for VTO at VTO booth.
The Vanuatu Tourism Office celebrated a very wet ICT Day with sunshine all the way. While outside smeared a grey and cloudy covering, inside the VTO booth was beautifully decorated, well lit, and it shone out a strong presence of the destination's brand look and feel, which attracted over 100 visitors into the booth to discover all that matters in tourism as well as learn what ICT the VTO uses to help promote Vanuatu to the tourist markets. This was the first ever ICT 2 days event on 16th & 17th May, which the Vanuatu Government via the Prime Minister's Office - OGCIO and the organizing committee, invited VTO to be one of the three partners.
With much planning and preparation within the last month, VTO joined the rest of ICT Day stakeholders, including Government reps, partners and sponsors on Friday last week, parading bravely throughout Port Vila town in middle of the torrential rain. "Yes, the organizers and committee are obviously very passionate for ICT. Come hail, rain, or storm, but the parade and the event must still go to celebrate ICT and "Broadband for Sustainable Development" which is this year's theme." comments Mrs Charlie. Two questions that were commonly asked by the visitors at the VTO booth, was how to start a tourism business and how does the VTO promote Vanuatu overseas inline with ICT. On Saturday 17th May, VTO participated in an ICT Quiz competition and the lucky winner who correctly answered what Vanuatu brand tagline was, got herself an orange Discover What Matters tshirt. This week, the ICT organizing committee met at the TRR office to gather feedback and recommendations for next year's event. The Vanuatu Tourism Office sincerely thanks the Prime Minister's Office, OGCIO Department, and the 2014 organizing committee for the invitation to be a partner in this year's event. We look forward to continuously build this strong network between all partners, as well as support future ICT events.
