Espiritu Santo's new Natawa River Kayak Drift

David Cockroft (owner of Moyyan House) has financed people from the Natawa River area on Espiritu Santo to provide a river tour and prawn farm. The tour is a very easy downstream float, and is assisted by Luke Tokar, owner/manager of Paradise Tours. The 1/2 day tour runs on Monday, Thursday, and Friday at 6,000vt per person. Luke transports guests from their hotel to Nattawa, off the East Coast Road, leading them to a traditional rural village. Joining the river guides there, guests then drift downstream in kayaks over crystal clear water passing through watercress, taro gardens, and by waterfalls set amid the pristine jungle. The tour will also include a visit to a freshwater prawn farm before river fish feeding, swimming and refreshments at the downstream pick up point. The more adventurous guests have the option to take a further onward drift and return paddle back to the pickup point. Leaving the river guides after the tour, guests then journey back to the East Coast road through stands of giant bamboo, cocoa and coconut farms. VTO congratulates Mr Cockroft and the Natawa community, for a great initiative and looks forward to working together and continuously promoting the tour. For more information or to book, call Luke on +678 7747159.

The hotel is ideally situated in town, in the same building as the Beef House and Island Time Cafe & Takeaway, in Port Vila. The staff were met by Mr Terry, the hotel Manager, and he showed them 4 rooms. The newly painted walls and tiled rooms gave the room's interior an interesting look and feel which has somewhat a metropolitan theme.

Oils of Paradise a delight for skin, health, and beauty

By Senior Communications and eMarketing Officer, Alcina Charlie: After visiting Lapita Cafe on 24th June, our next stop was at another local business also recognized and awarded for improving skin, health and beauty. The Oils of Paradise is neatly tucked along the main road at Nambatu, just a few minutes walk from Au Bon Marche supermarket, and the shop's entrance is marked by its thatch roof and brightly colored walls and displays. We were greeted by Ms Rona Garae, business owner/manager, and she gave the team a brief history about how Oils of Paradise started. "I wanted to help the mamas of my home island and empower them to grow their business of gathering virgin coconut oil, so my partner and I were able to purchase gallons and kick start this project", says Ms Garae. Three years later, her dream has now become a reality and last year, Ms Garae opened her shop. Since then, she has won a few awards from the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce.
