VTO visits City Motel

By Alcina Charlie, VTO: Before dropping in at the what used to be called Olympic Hotel but has now been re-branded to Business Class Hotel, we dropped by at the City Motel. We were met by the motel's manager, Ms Joie Wibur Malas who gave us a brief history about the motel before she showed us the only room available. City Motel started operating in 2006, and is owned by a chinese local resident Mr Mok, whom Joie has been working for for 9 years. City Motel has a bright and spacious lobby reception on the first floor, and is centrally located in Port Vila.
The motel which offers 13 rooms, makes it easy for guests to head into town to do shopping, go dining at a number of beautiful restaurants, do banking, book tours, and much more. City motel is ideal for the budget traveler as well as business groups. The rooms have double or single twin beds sleeping 2 persons per room with private fully equipped bathroom and toilet, hot and cold water, cooking utensils, fridge and microwave, TV, ceiling fan, and wireless internet for guest use. When asked what has been keeping the business going for many years now, Ms Wilbur Malas beamed, "Our bookings have mostly derived from guests telling us to book here. Word of mouth over the years, have had many guests come to stay with us and many of them keep returning for longer stays. A few guests have even stayed with us for up to 1 month". The VTO acknowledges Ms Malas for her time in taking the staff around the motel, and we look forward to working closely together to promote the destination.
