Flights to Tongoa resume
Air Vanuatu media release, 30th August 2014 - Air Vanuatu will resume scheduled services to Tongoa island from 10 September after CAAV declared Pele Airport safe to reopen for commercial flights. CAAV advised Air Vanuatu sections of the runway have been backfilled and compacted, however as grass is yet to grow over, Air Vanuatu will only operate flights to the island if the strip is dry. Air Vanuatu operates under a safety before schedule policy and apologises for any inconvenience caused by the upgrade to Pele Airport.
