Wik Blong Vanuatu a huge success

Week Blong Vanuatu this year kept Place des Cocotiers in Noumea, New Caledonia, pulsating and full of energy from Thursday 13th to Saturday 15th November. During the trade fair, participants of the tourism industry from Vanuatu joined the VTO representative Martine Robin to promote the destination by talking about what Vanuatu offers to its holiday seekers, handing out destination brochures as well as enticing consumers into booking special holiday packages that will be running until end of March 2015.
Operators and hoteliers as well as bungalow owners from Tanna, Espiritu Santo, and Efate participated at the event, and Mr Pascal Gavotto of TVET contracted by the VTO, did a splendid presentation on visitor attractions and hospitality services available in the province of Torba, Sanma and Penama to every New Caledonian wholesalers and travel agencies. Highlights of these provinces as well as the metropolitan gateway (Port Vila, Efate) are currently being promoted via Vanuatu Tourism's social media French websites. A huge attraction during Wik Blong Vanuatu, was the Banks Island cultural group who performed a colorful array of custom dances from their province. While the performances entertained thousands, a large wide screen displayed stunning photos of the destination from VTO's photo library next to the stage. A local string band from New Caledonia with some Vanuatu family ties, also performed when the dancers took their break. Team Vanuatu not only consisted of participants purely in tourism and hospitality, but Ms Astrid Boulekon from the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce was also present to talk about investment opportunities with a delegation specialized in the Investment in Vanuatu, answering to all investors as well as genuine inquiries about what services were available to assist in starting a business in Vanuatu. The Wik’s closing was an outside of the ordinary spectacle featuring over 150 Harley Davidson's motorbikes rallying up to the site to be greeted with much chanting and dancing by the Banks Islands performers, and on Sunday morning, VTO led the delegation to the Municipal market where hundreds of consumers flooded the information desks taking with them destination brochures and holiday packages. VTO would like to thank for the following for their participation and general support to promote the destination Air Vanuatu, Coconut Palms, Holiday Inn, Nasama resort , The Melanesian & Moorings, Tanna Evergreen, Village de Santo, Atmosphere Tours, Europe Car, Evergreen Tours, Unity Airlines, Tafea Province, and Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce.
